Backbeat Books and Music is excited to announce a very special celebration taking place on the weekend of April 19 and 20!
Saturday, April 19 is Record Store Day – a world-renowned day that promotes and celebrates the unique culture of record stores and the special role independently-owned stores play in their communities. This culture encompasses the staff, customers and artists who all contribute to its success. Albums that are issued on Record Store Day are not made available to big-box retailers; they are distributed only to independently-owned record stores, which encourages and promotes local shopping. Backbeat has ordered literally hundreds of albums, making for a very special shopping opportunity for both locals and visitors in the community.
This weekend is extra-special for Backbeat’s owners in that it coincides with the shop’s “re-birthday” on Sunday, April 20 — the day they took over the shop from the previous owner. They’re turning it into a real party and throwing a free concert at the shop featuring well-known local musicians. Everyone is invited to come by and celebrate with them at 6 Wilson Street West in Perth.
Here’s the entertainment line-up:
12:30 – 1pm: Diderick (Ben Ritchie)
1:15 – 2pm: The Bluedogzzz
2:15 – 3pm: Ali McCormick & Blackstrap Molasses
3:15 – 4pm: James Leclaire
