Xmas Fun in Almonte this Sat!

Don’t let the many options for this Sat (Dec 13) overwhelm you — we’re here to help.

Kintail Country XmasFirst, activities you need to plan for:

Last I heard, there were a few tickets left for Almonte in Concert’s Christmas with Buzz, an Opus Award-winning brass quintet. Tickets ($30) for the 8pm show are available at Mill Street Books.

Soul Scents is having another Psychic Saturday, so call them to sign up for a session (613-256-6322) with spiritual intuitive Tamara Geddes.

Now for the schedule we have crafted specially for you!

If you have young kids, you may want to start with Photos with Santa (you know, before they mess up their clothes). Simply drop in to BH Photography between 10am and 3pm to get your photo taken. It’s only $10, you get a digital photo, and the proceeds go to the Young Awards (funding arts in local schools).

Next, peruse the Almonte Farmers’ Christmas Market at the Community Centre (9am-3pm). Buy in-season produce, naturally-raised meats, baked goods, crafts & ready-to-eat treats, incl. Amanda’s Café. We at theHumm particularly recommend Amanda’s Pad Thai!

Is it 11am yet? Time for some outdoor (and indoor) fun at the Mill of Kintail as they have their 8th Kintail Country Christmas! 11am-3pm enjoy wagon rides, a nature scavenger hunt, holiday music, crafts, photos with Santa, and stories by the fire. $15 per car. No matter what your age, you will enjoy the natural beauty of the Mill.

TwelveDaysAutumnAfter lunch (or FOR lunch), head down to Mill St. Storyteller Jan Andrews and artist Susan Rennick-Jolliffe will  be talking about their collaboration on picture book The Twelve Days of Autumn at Mill Street Books, 1-3pm. Check out Susan’s illustrations on display all day across the road at the General.

What? You’re getting tired? Better get a coffee — how else do you think we Almonters keep going, what with all the happenings around town — and did you know that today and tomorrow (Dec 13 & 14) you can get 10% off bags of whole bean coffee at Palms?MVTM Rock n Roll + POP

Last but not least, drop by the Textile Museum from 2-4pm to check out their new exhibit:
Rock ’n’ Roll + POP, with artists Michele Provost & Judy Dougherty.

Phew!  Ok, now your options include stopping at one of Almonte’s delicious restaurants for a filling, warming supper… take-out for the way home… taking a wander down Mill Street to enjoy the seasonal décor (including the lights shining on the falls at the bottom of the street)… and hey — did you get a Almonte in Concert ticket?

Have a great day in Almonte!  [You can rest Sunday …]
