Yes, “something for everyone” is an much-used phrase, but the diversity of this weekend (May 2-3)… well… you’ll see.
For art lovers: in addition to ongoing exhibits at the General (Susan Ukkola’s paintings/prints, Lesley McInally’sceramics), the Textile Museum (Carl Stewart’s “belated”), and Sivarulrasa (multi-artist “Spring Voices”), you can attend a free”Artists Panel: Inspired by Nature” on Saturday, 2-4pm, to hear the artists at Sivarulrasa talk about their inspiration, process and vision… AND you can check out a new exhibit by new artists at JB Arts on Sunday, 12-3pm.
For book lovers: Mill Street Books has a Saturday afternoon full of authors (of children’s, young adult, military and political books), plus a book release!
For worshipers and those who appreciate many voices in harmony: At Almonte in Praise, choirs from Almonte churches will perform separately, plus as a massed choir.
For the foot-stomping, fiddle-lovers: the annual Ottawa Valley traditional fiddle & dance awards showcase Fiddler’s Friends returns to town Sunday.
For the fit, sorta-fit, outdoorsy and/or simply inspired to help: go out to the Mill of Kintail to Hike for Hub Hospice (Sunday, 1-4pm). Might I suggest fueling up beforehand at Heirloom or relaxing afterwards at Café Postino?
For the cheesy: If you can’t do the Hike and would rather support the hospice through a tasty treat, why not pop into Pêches & Poivre to pick up May’s Cheese of the Month — L’Inspiré (10% of proceeds go to the Hospice).
Note: you can find these events and more listed at ifounditinalmonte.
So have a great weekend! And if you can’t find something that interests you in this list of art, books, tea, music and outdoor/volunteering… then I must assume you happened on theHumm by accident! Have a great weekend anyway!
