Owner Brigitte Diogo and her sister Pélagie have created a very funky and inviting space in which to display their “unique collection of clothing and accessories for trendy women”. After living in Carleton Place for ten years, Brigitte decided that a quality clothing shop was the perfect addition to the downtown core, and she happily reports that “after two years in business, we still get a new customer every day!”
The Green Counter carries clothing lines by Cut Loose, Bryn Walker, Part Two and Lisa Todd, to name a few. It is accented by jewellery from Montreal’s Anne- Marie Chagnon, bags that are handmade in Cambridge, and espadrilles from Spain, among other great finds. Local art adorns the walls, adding to the ambiance, and there is even space for art workshops on occasion. And though it looks like you’ve wandered into a trendy fashion district, the service is always small-town friendly. They are located at 18 Mill Street (near the Carleton Place Town Hall), and welcome you Mon-Wed and Fri (10–5:30), Thur (10–7), and Sat (10–5).
